Changes to EPC regulations delayed but no permanent escape

Short term relief for landlords with properties that have a F or G grade EPC.

Scottish Government has announced that Landlords who were in line to face major property upgrades no longer have to do so just yet.  New legislation stating that properties for let which had a an EPC  F or G must be upgraded to EPC band E was expected to come into force 01.04.2020 but as legislation has not been finalised it has been announced that changes will not come into force until 01.10.2020.

Landlords can apply for interest free loans from Scottish Government for the work required.  New legislation will apply not only to landlords who have new tenancies commencing from 01.10.2020 but also those with existing lets. Those with existing lets  must  effect improvements over the 2  years from 01.10.2020.
